ABOUT US

Digital Communication Consulting (DigiComm), is a part of the JMU Learning Centers and we're housed in the Student Success Center.

Our tutors come from the School of Media Arts and Design, the School of Communication, and the Department of Rhetoric, Writing, and Technical Communication. They were trained in a semester-long 3-credit course to be Digital Communication Consultants, and they know the ins and outs of the most common web builders and tutoring styles.

We offer consultations for students across campus who want to work with a tutor on their professional portfolio, digital storytelling assignment, or WordPress assignment. Our consultations are one-on-one and can last up to 45-minutes.

We also provide Media Fellows for professors who have integrated digital assignments into their curriculum.  Any faculty who would like to have a peer tutor work closely with their students, can hire a Media Fellow through our center. Media Fellows work closely with faculty on their digital assignment and offer their students: presentations and workshops on effective digital comunication, online resources, tools, and examples, and one-on-one consultations with their students.

Paige Normand talks with Media Fellows: Sarah Lundberg, Jessie Dominick, and Marlena Luciano.
